How to Backup, Secure and Speed Up Your WordPress

Creating a website Štítek:

Jetpack is a set of powerful plugins for security, backup, speed and growth in wordpress. Jetpackset’s suite of solutions and features are powerful tools for your WordPress site. The extended functionality of the Jetpack plugin goes beyond providing a comprehensive and easy-to-use backup solution. Jetpack, formerly known as VaultPress, introduces security, performance, growth, and analytics tools to use: Jetpack is billed as an all-in-one plugin that covers a variety of uses including WordPress security, performance optimization, marketing tools, analytics, and more. The plugin is managed by Automattic, the team behind other popular WordPress services and products such as WordPress.com and WooCommerce.

WordPress Security

With all the misleading expert advice available online, WordPress security can be a black box at best. Many administrators want to be sure that their site is protected, but they don’t understand the details and therefore don’t know how to choose the best option for their sites. Once I checked the 3 main security features, we tried two-factor authentication and brute force protection. Both work really well. Wordfence also detected all the vulnerabilities on my website, even one in the plugin that most other plugins couldn’t detect.

WordPress backup

I recommend backing up your WordPress website at least once a day. If the number of changes to your site per day is very high — for example, you run a large e-commerce business — you need real-time backups. Real-time backups create “restore points” with every change. The Jetpack plugin provides real-time backups, making it one of the best solutions available. Some backup solutions, such as the Jetpack plugin, provide data redundancy by storing your backups on multiple servers in their secure data centers around the world.

WordPress speed

You can also use Gtmetrix. It’s not a WordPress plugin, but an external site that gives your site total performance control. It can tell you issues that can slow down your WordPress site, as well as conflicts on your site. To find out if a website is fast or slow, the easiest way is to try it out for yourself. Let’s try to open an incognito window (to guarantee that it will not be cached) and open this site. You will be clear whether the site is loading fast or slow and whether this speed is acceptable. It’s also worth checking your own internet speed in advance (see speedcheck.org).

WordPress growth

This aspect includes PHP version updates, WordPress version updates, installing new plugins and themes, updating existing ones, and changing custom scripts. Of course, you need to make a backup of your site before making any of the above changes. If you want to keep visitors on your site, you need to limit the bounce rate (the rate of visitors who surfed on one page of your site before leaving it). If you offer them useful content that meets their needs, you’re on the right track.

You can find the plugin for free download in every Administration of the WordPress Content Management System in the category »Plugins« and »Plugin Installation« under the name »Jetpack – WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth«.
